Special Programs for Youth and OthersSpecial Programs for Youth and Others

The Cultural Center is pleased to offer programs such as the following, all intended to reach a broad audience of individuals and groups for whom the arts are essential opportunities for growth and development. We also partner with educational and social service organizations to help as many people as possible lead creative and productive lives.

We have, for instance, worked with the Duffy Health Center, Cape Abilities, the Alternative Learning Programs in the public schools, RFK Children's Action Corps, Southeast Alternative School, fellow associates of the Cape Cod Youth Empowerment Initiative, and Community Connections in order to fulfill our mission.

For more information about the following programs and other ways that the Cultural Center supports under served populations, please contact Executive Director Robert Nash or Associate Director Lauren Wolk.

Rise and Shine
Now in its seventh year, the Rise and Shine Program offers workshops in the arts to youth at risk followed by opportunities to celebrate their work through exhibits, readings, and performances at the Cultural Center. Hundreds of students from all over the Cape have taken part in this program, one of the Center’s finest contributions to the region. Rise and Shine also provides arts mentors to youth with an interest in the visual, performing, or literary arts. Once the new Education Wing is open, such pairs will be provided with a special Mentoring Studio where they can meet on a regular basis. Rise and Shine is funded in part by The Massachusetts Cultural Council, several local cultural councils, the David A. DeMaria Foundation, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Davenport Foundations, the Joan Bentinck-Smith Charitable Foundation, and others. We thank them for their support. For more information about Rise and Shine, please contact our Director of Education Amy Neill at aneill@cultural-center.org.

Arts and Alzheimer’s
Groups of Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers regularly visit the Center to interact with the artwork and live music, both of which stir memory and prompt communication.

The PR Kits for Artists Program
This program provides professional high resolution digital photographs and written materials for emerging visual or performing artists. The goals of the program are to help emerging artists promote themselves, increase visibility, secure engagements, build confidence, and encourage professionalism.

The Cultural Center hosts classes and workshops for many ages and interests and is always eager to include those without the means to pay tuition.
