SELF-CARE DAY 2023
“By making time for self-care, you prepare yourself to be your best so you can share your gifts with the world. Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. Self-care isn’t selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”— Eleanor Brown
Self-Care is an important part of keeping ourselves healthy- mentally, physically and spiritually. Caregivers, whether in a health profession, education field, or taking care of a loved one in need, often don’t spend the time needed to care for themselves. Survivors, whether from cancer or another illness, or a survivor of abuse, or suffering from loss and grief, can benefit from time devoted to wellness and creativity.
In collaboration with Independence House and NAMI Cape Cod & The Islands, we would like to honor you on Saturday, February 18, the day following National Caregivers Day. Join us at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod for a day devoted to you. Experience morning wellness workshops, including yoga, meditation, Nia and drumming. This will be followed by creative time, including visual journaling, a creative expressions group, work in clay and a singing workshop. A delicious buffet will follow, prepared by our Chef, Joe Cizynski. The afternoon will offer joy and relaxation with a choice of Salsa dancing, painting & mocktails, or a sound bath.
You might be a nurse, a school counselor, an individual grieving the loss of a friend, someone experiencing cancer treatments, or a loving partner of someone with Alzheimers….whoever you are as Caregiver or Survivor, we hope you will take the day to enjoy self-care and celebrate the special person that you are and the gifts that you selflessly give.
“There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.” — Rosalyn Carter
