“All at Sea,” An Exhibition of Acrylic Paintings by Susan Carey
The exhibition will be presented in the Blue Room Gallery from June 23- July 17.
“All at Sea” is a collection of paintings titled after Susan’s grandparents’ way of describing when life became too overwhelming to describe.
Susan Carey, a Cape Cod native, began art training as a child at the Cape Cod Conservatory. Susan later studied at the Art Institute of Boston and Syracuse University, completing degrees at Cape Cod Community College and Wellesley Colleges. Her original paintings have been collected locally and internationally for twenty-five years.
“When I began to paint professionally, I focused on whimsical paintings of sailors and mermaids, inspired by Cotuit artist Ralph Cahoon. After teaching drawing and painting for a number of years, I developed a new respect for the honesty of intimately observed subjects. Now, I paint still lives. I enjoy choosing objects which connect with my past and that of the Cape and its maritime history.”
