A Creative Revolution Blooms in Hyannis: Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Hyannis Arts Campus Invites Visitors to Play, Explore, and Be Inspired

Hyannis, MA – 9/25/25 – A wave of bold creativity is transforming downtown Hyannis, thanks to the Cultural Center of Cape Cod’s Hyannis Arts Campus—a dynamic, multi-faceted destination designed to spark imagination, ignite community engagement, and celebrate the arts in all their forms.
Located just a short walk from Hyannis Main Street and the harbor, this once-quiet corner of Cape Cod has become a village of creativity, where art, education, play, and cultural exchange converge to create an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.
“This is more than a campus—it’s a movement,” says Molly Demeulenaere, Executive Director of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. “We’ve created a space where children can make a mess and call it art, where fire transforms glass, where professional artists live and work among us, and where the public can engage with the process of creativity up close. The Hyannis Arts Campus is an invitation—to families, artists, educators, and dreamers—to come and explore.”
The Hyannis Arts Campus: A Destination Like No Other
The Hyannis Arts Campus is made up of five distinct yet interconnected spaces, each offering its own unique experience:
The Art Barn
Ages 1–10 | 10 Pearl St. Hyannis, MA. A hands-on, screen-free, immersive art museum just for kids, the Art Barn is a joyful, ever-changing space built around tactile, messy exploration. Every month, the entire museum transforms around a new creative theme—think Woodland Wonders, Under the Sea, or Barnyard Animals—designed to keep young minds excited and engaged.
Each theme introduces a celebrated artist or movement, inspiring children to explore painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media through their own lens. It's a place where little hands can create big ideas—and where masterpieces start with a mess.
Admission: $10 per person (ages 12 months and up)
Membership: $100/year for up to 4 children + caregivers
Hours: Thursday–Monday, 10AM–3PM
Location: Steps from Hyannis Harbor and Main Street
Parking: Free in nearby public lots — it’s a Park & Walk paradise!
Summer classes and workshops are now in full swing! Visit www.cultural-center.org for weekly themes and registration.
Flameworks Studio
46 Pearl St. Hyannis, MA. A fully equipped, five-person hot glass and jewelry-making studio, Flameworks offers classes and workshops for those looking to shape beauty from fire. The studio features torches, ventilation, a new kiln, and professional-grade tools, welcoming both beginners and seasoned artists to try their hand at glasswork in a safe, exciting environment.
The Sketch Pad – Artist Residency
50 Pearl St. Hyannis, MA. The Sketch Pad is a live/work artist-in-residence program housed in a beautifully restored historic building. Open to artists from around the world, the residency provides:
Comfortable accommodations
Spacious studio and exhibition areas
Opportunities to teach public workshops and host open studios
Artists are encouraged to connect with the community, drawing inspiration from Cape Cod’s natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture. With residencies ranging from 3 to 6 weeks, the program nurtures artistic growth and global cultural exchange—right in the heart of Hyannis.
Applications are currently open for 2026 residencies. Visit Hyannis Artists in Residence for details.
The Bird House – Artist-in-Residence & Public Studio
46 Pearl St. Hyannis, MA Located next door to Flameworks, The Bird House is a cozy, public-facing residency studio and gallery space. The first floor has been reimagined as a combined artist-in-residence workshop and exhibit space, where visitors can drop in, meet the artist, and watch the creative process unfold in real time.
Residents host open studio hours, lead workshops, and share their work through intimate exhibitions and public engagement—creating powerful connections between artists and community.
The Quad & The Patch – Outdoor Fun for All
Connecting the entire campus is a playful landscape of creativity and community:
The Quad: A lush, green outdoor space for classes, gatherings, and fresh-air exploration
The Patch: A fun mash-up of asphalt and astroturf, perfect for spontaneous games, art activities, and performance events
Together, these outdoor areas serve as gathering places for seasonal programming, pop-up installations, and unstructured play.
Why Visit the Hyannis Arts Campus?
Whether you're a family looking for enriching activities, an artist seeking inspiration, or a traveler exploring Cape Cod, the Hyannis Arts Campus offers a one-of-a-kind destination to connect, create, and be inspired. Here, art is not a product—it’s a process, a community, and a celebration of what’s possible when people come together through creativity.
“We want everyone who steps onto this campus to feel the joy of making something, discovering something, or connecting with someone,” says Demeulenaere. “This is what a cultural center should be—a living, breathing space where art and life meet.”
