Cultural Center of Cape Cod Expands Programs to HyArts Campus

HYANNIS, MA, —The Cultural Center of Cape Cod and ArtsBarnstable | Town of Barnstable are pleased to announce a new programming partnership at the Guyer Art Barn and Garage Studio, located on the Hyannis HyArts Arts Campus at the corner of South and Pearl Street, in the heart of the Hyannis HyArts Cultural District.

The Cultural Center of Cape Cod is excited to bring a variety of programs to the Guyer Barn and Garage studio. “Hyannis is Cape Cod's most populated and diverse community, and we believe that access and inclusivity make us stronger. We're focused on providing year-round opportunities to activate the HyArts Campus”, says Molly Demeulenaere, Executive Director of Cultural Center of Cape Cod.

The Hyannis HyArts Campus is nestled among museums and arts organizations, a public library, village green open space, artist shanties, artist studios, vibrant businesses, a lively mile long main street, all within walking distance of Hyannis harbor, a working waterfront.

Beginning in October of 2023, this expansion underscores the Center’s and its partner’s dedication to nurturing creativity, supporting local artists, and enriching Cape Cod's dynamic arts scene.

A ribbon-cutting including invited dignitaries, members of the local business community, and elected officials will mark the occasion at 250 South Street, Hyannis on Tuesday, October 3rd at 9:00am.

The Guyer Barn, a centerpiece of HyArts Campus, will flourish as a creative nucleus, featuring arts education, live performances, and captivating exhibitions. In our commitment to enhancing this creative haven, we're currently renovating The Garage Studio into a unique glasswork and lampworking studio. Here, enthusiasts can partake in classes, engage in open studio sessions, and explore the art of glasswork in a setting unlike any other on Cape Cod.

Additionally, the campus houses two artist studios and galleries, providing local artists with dynamic spaces to create, teach, and showcase their works. The galleries' updated public hours will ensure that visitors always have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of artistry.

"We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter in partnership with the Town of Barnstable," exclaimed Diane Giardi, Director of Learning at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. "The HyArts Campus aligns seamlessly with our mission to foster artistic exploration and community connection while providing even more arts education for visitors and residents of Cape Cod."

Melissa Chartrand, Arts and Culture Director for the Town of Barnstable, expressed her

enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, "The collaboration between the Cultural Center of Cape Cod and the HyArts Campus is a significant step towards greater nurturing a thriving arts community in Hyannis. We are excited about the future programming and the impact this partnership will have on local artists, visitors, and residents."

As we prepare to launch this venture, we invite artists, art enthusiasts, and the local community to join us in celebrating this milestone for Cape Cod's cultural landscape.
