Tim and Tony to Host ‘Vinyl Night’ at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

SOUTH YARMOUTH -- Vinyl records are making a big comeback. For the first time since the 1980s, they are outselling CDs in the United States. People are pulling out their old LPs from the basement and cranking out the tunes on turntables again.

To celebrate, Tim Miller and Tony Raine, hosts of “Tim ’n’ Tony’s Rock ’n’ Pop Show” on WOMR-FM, will present “Bring Your Own Vinyl Night” on Saturday, November 28, at 7pm at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Old Main St., in South Yarmouth. They will be joined by special guest Randy Wickersham of Spinnaker Records of Hyannis.

Those attending are invited to bring their albums and 45s to this “BYOVinyl” event, where favorite tracks will be played and stories related to albums will be told. The evening will also feature a brief talk on the history of vinyl and its current resurgence; tips on buying, selling and collecting; appraisals; expert vinyl cleaning; and a trivia contest with prizes. Everyone should feel free to bring their own refreshments.

Audience size is limited, so reservations are required in advance at www.cultural-center.org or by calling 508-394-7100. Admission is $15. CDC protocols, including distanced table seating and mask wearing, will be in effect.

Raine, longtime manager at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, has presented concerts and music series featuring Ray Davies of the Kinks, Roger McGuinn of the Byrds and many other luminaries; has served as tour manager for Carlene Carter; and has managed several acts, including Siobhan Magnus.

Miller worked for the Cape Cod Times for 36 years as entertainment editor, film critic and occasional music critic. He now writes a movie column for Cape Cod Wave Magazine.

“Tim ’n’ Tony’s Rock ’n’ Pop Show” airs from midnight to 3 Sunday nights/Monday mornings on WOMR (92.1-FM), WFMR (91.3-FM) and womr.org. Archived previous shows also can be heard on womr.org.
