Lauren Lortie: Future Talk
November 18 - December 21
Reception: Friday, December 5, from 4–6 p.m.
With the understanding that as humans, our “present” is the combined knowledge of our history and imagination of our future, I wonder how we might choose to communicate in a new world that is free from a society influenced by politics, war and greed. In fact, this would be a society that resists those influences fully. What if the artists of that world were tasked with creating a new language that emphasized a multi-dimensional approach to communicating our thoughts and feelings?
In this series, Future Talk, I imagine myself in this new world- a new planet- as one of those artists pulling ideas from art history. I think about cave paintings, hieroglyphics, modern and postmodern explorations. I wonder how colors and materials use light as inflections and how mark-making and composition can illustrate a thought process that words cannot. These works are meant to be like prototypes or sketches that can help open our minds to more complex ideas.

The 2026 Members’ Exhibition: Liftoff
January 6–31, 2026
Reception: Friday, Jan 9, 5–7pm
As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, we are taking this milestone as an opportunity to reflect on our mission, reimagine our role, and realign our programming to better serve the vibrant community we cherish. Our 2026 Open Members’ Show will embody this spirit of thoughtful evolution. While all members will continue to be guaranteed one piece in the exhibition through an open call, this year those works will be presented in our Vault, Board Room, and Skylight galleries—ensuring every artist’s voice is honored and celebrated.
For the first time ever, we will also introduce a juried component in the Great Hall, elevating the artistic standards and spotlighting exemplary works in a professional, curated context. We are thrilled to announce that Ian Kabat will serve as juror, bringing a discerning eye and deep respect for community-driven excellence. This new hybrid format allows us to remain inclusive while raising the bar—marking a pivotal, celebratory shift in how we honor our artist members.
Call for Entries
Frame By Frame
Opening: Friday Feb 27, 2026
Entry deadline: Sunday, Feb 15, 2026
Frame by Frame invites photographers to capture the pulse of life in the Cultural Center's new online exhibition. We’re looking for images that vibrate with motion, energy, and nighttime possibility—the blur of streetlights, the pulse of a crowd, your favorite city in motion. And most importantly, we want people in these frames: figures, family, and friends – in motion, gestures caught mid-story, characters who seem to continue living beyond the image. Imagine a single frame cut from a film – singular and separate, perhaps telling a fleeting story. All and every style is welcome!
Awards: 1st Place – $300, 2nd Place – $200, 3rd Place – $100
After The Leaves Have Gone
Opening: Monday, Feb 9, 2026
Entry deadline: Saturday, Jan 31, 2026
Now the Leaves Have Gone invites artists to celebrate the bright, invigorating clarity that winter uniquely reveals. When the leaves fall away, the world sharpens: colors intensify and that seasonal light slices cleanly across landscape and architecture. We’re seeking artworks that embrace this crisp optimism — paintings, photographs, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, digital works, and everything in between. Surprise us with how winter’s pared-back beauty sparks joy, energy, or renewal – what emerges when the world is stripped to essentials. Artists of all backgrounds and disciplines are warmly encouraged to submit and help illuminate the season.
Awards: 1st Place – $300, 2nd Place – $200, 3rd Place – $100
